The figure 8 board (also called the lazy 8 board) has the infinity pattern that is known for activating both brain hemispheres and encouraging them to work together.
This lazy 8's tracing board is a great tool that helps with midline crossing and activating eye movements, which is believed to improve the clarity of eyesight. It can also be helpful for reducing or eliminating letter-writing reversals.
This material is traditionally used by occupational therapists, but in the recent years has gained general popularity to help children develop dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
The other side of the board has 2 opposing spirals to allow children to practice using both hands.
Children can trace these patterns with their fingers or can use the "pencil" to help practice their pincer grasp or marbles to help practice balance.
This is an essential tool for an occupational therapist or any classroom.
It measures 7"x14" and is made of buttery white maple.
