Land and water form puzzle

Working under the guidance of an amazing teacher, every single piece of this project was built with so much love for our amazing Earth and so much learning for myself!

Initial design had over 150 pieces but striking the right balance of coverage vs overwhelm, this puzzle now includes: 

🌎 10 Land tiles (Green land, you can flip it for natural land)

🌎 10 Water tiles

🌎 33 Landform tiles (10 traditional ones - Bay, cape, island..., 23 additional ones including delta, atoll, river. 10 traditional ones and 10 additional tiles are labeled on the back. The rest, 13 are unlabeled for kids to flip through the land form booklet, match and discover as some of them can be labeled differently depending on if water is adjacent to it or if land tile is adjacent to it.)

🌎 10 other geological features, that can stand upright for kids to place on the finished map (Volcano, waterfall, Glaciers...)

🌎 All the landforms and geological tiles have their names om the backside of the tiles for self correction.

This material is not only a great way for children to further their geographical knowledge but also allows for fine motor skill refinement, development of spatial understanding, and provides an emphasis on concentration and order. 

Children will be drawn to the beautiful colors on the puzzle pieces and the geological features they can add to their landform creation. 

Some ideas for variations and extensions for this work include: 

🌎 Creating a list of land and water forms to be incorporated in the finished design before arranging the pieces

🌎 Drawing the finished design, labeling each land and water form, as well as the geological features included 

🌎 Write a story about the design created, discussing and naming the area, as well as any land and water forms and geological features included. It will also be fun to imagine the flora and fauna living there and describe those, too!
